Chelidonium zaitzevi, a rare East-Palaearctic taxon occuring in Russian far East and North-East China, has been described from Primorsky krai (Russia) by Nikolai N. Plavilstshikov in 1933 [▽]. In Russian Far East Ch. zaitzevi inhabits deciduous forests of Primorsky krai. Larvae start development in living thin twigs (3 - 5 mm diameter) of maples (Acer pictum, Acer mono, Acer mandschuricum), later feed in thicker branches. Life cycle 3 years. Adult beetles are active in July and August [✧].

Depicted mounted female beetle (26 mm) was collected in Gorno-Tajozhnoje (Горно-Таёжное) village environs (N43°42′ E132°09′; 70-260 m a.s.l., 20 km SE Ussuriysk, Ussuriysky urban okrug, Primorsky krai, Far Eastern Federal District, Russia) on July 23, 2014.
